Tata Institute of Social SciencesTata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a Deemed University funded by the University Grants Commission of the Government of India offering higher professional education in the field of human service and applied social science research. The Institute has gone beyond the initial concern of social work education, since its inception in 1936, to consistently contribute to the promotion of sustainable, participatory development and social justice. The University of MumbaiThe University of Mumbai was established in 1857 and is one of the oldest universities in India. The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Contemporary Studies is an autonomous research centre at the University of Mumbai. Established in 2006 by a special grant given by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Centre engages in public policy research on contemporary themes.

National Institute of Urban AffairsThe National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is an institute for research, training and information dissemination in urban development and management. Established in 1976, the Institute enjoys the support and commitment of the Ministry of Urban Affairs and Employment, Government of India, State Governments, urban and regional development authorities, and other agencies concerned with urban issues. As a scientific and research organisation, NIUA undertakes the promotion and coordination of advanced studies on urbanisation through the training, research, and evaluation of social, administrative, and financial aspects of urban development plans and programmes.
